Malachite is a deep-green opaque gemstone that has been used in jewelry and ornamental pieces for thousands of years. Its distinctive parallel bands and rings make it easy to identify.

This mineral rock usually comes from copper mines after all the copper has been removed. The copper is responsible for the beautiful green color of malachite.

The color does not fade over time or when exposed to light, which makes it a good material to use as a coloring agent. Ancient Egyptians ground it up to use as green pigment and eye shadow. Malachite was believed to improve vision and provide deeper insight.

The mesmerizing color of malachite color is said to impart a calming energy to aid in times of transition or transformation.
